- TitleLetter from Alan Lennox-Boyd of 8a Hobart Place, S.W.1 to George L. Matthews of Park House, Sandy in response to questions posed by Mr. Matthews. Questions are answered in turn and include the following topics: - The proposal for a European Second Front… 'In short I feel that, given the present number of theatres of war, the time for launching a new Second Front in Europe must be left to the decision of those who know the whole situation. I say a new second front, for I regard the continuous and gallant efforts over Europe of the Royal Air Force, in which so many of my constituents are serving, as themselves forming a second front of immense value. - Complications concerning British rule & defence in India… 'If it was wrong to sacrifice the minorities (an essential condition of 'settlement') before the Japanese came on the scene, it is equally wrong now'. - Sir Stafford Cripps' visit to India with a self government plan. - British rule in Malaya and the decision not to mobilise their people. - The question of defence over a restored British Empire… 'In the future, questions of the defence of a restored Empire will certainly have to be seriously tackled and, after the war is won, I have little doubt that throughout the Colonial Empire, determined efforts will be made to see that never again shall the privileges of membership of the Empire be imperilled by inadequate defences'.
