    John Welles of The Heth within the parish of Leighton Bosard made 1543. pr. 21 Oct. 1544. Burial in the churchyard of Leighton Bosard. To the mother church of Lincoln 2d.; to the high altar 4d.. To wife Elzabeth all moveable goods, and she is to give to Agnes his daughter £20 on her marriage, and also £20 to daughter Jone on her marriage "yff she wilbe Ruled by hir". To wife Elzabeth his house in The Rache sometime called Dudleys, with a close called Rede Crofte with 6 acres of land and half an acre of mead lying on Wyne Mede, and also a close lying to the same house. To wife Elzabeth a close called Newclose for the term of her life. He leaves 26s. 8d. to a priest who is to sing for "my soull helth And my Frendes" for a quarter of a year. To his son John Welles all his beans, vetches and oats "That growe in the fylde", charged with a payment of £6 to wife Elzabeth. Wife is to have his house for a dwelling until midsummer next, and after that at the will and pleasure of son John Welles. Wife to have grass in a close called Hytchyn for 4 kine for the term of her life for her marriage part, and she is to have grass for 12 beasts until the feast of the Epiphany . Wife Elzabeth to be sole executrix, and the overseer to be his son John. To Agnes Welles, the wife of his son, 2 kine. Witnesses sir Robert Harvy, W. Holand, Richard Newell, John Vynter and Edmund Bunne.
