Scope and Content
"Furst I bequeth my soull unto God Allmeghtye and to all the blessed compeny in heven" and burial in churchyard of Carleton "by my Frendes". To the poor men's box 12d..
To wife Alys his house, land, meadow and pastures in the fields of Carleton and Chellington for her life, reversion to his son William and his heirs, and should William die without issue, then property to go to testator's son John and his issue, in default to testator's oldest daughter Jone Allen and so from one to another of his children.
The lease of his farm also goes to wife Alys while she remains single, and if she remarry, then lease to go to son William "to the behoffe of hem and the profett of all my childerne".
To son William a horse, a couple of oxen, a shod cart and 10 sheep. To daughter Jone a bullock and 6 sheep. To daughter Elenor a year-old bullock and 4 sheep. To daughters Rose, Agnes, and Katering 3 sheep each. To son John 6 sheep. To daughter Margret 3 sheep.
To his brother John a ewe sheep and a lamb. To goddaughter Kateryne Allen a ewe sheep and a ewe lamb. To W. Smyth a lamb. Wife Alys to sow every year 2 acres of land for the profit of son W.. To daughter Besse a flecked bullock to remain in a stock for her and her younger sister.
All other goods to wife Alys, she to be executrix, with son W. executor and Richard Grene supervisor.
