    Soul to God, beseeching the Blessed Virgin Mary and the holy company of heaven to pray for him. Burial in the churchyard of Cranefild. To Lincoln 2d.; to the parson for his mortuary and for tithes forgotten 10s.; to the reparation of the bells 3s.to be delivered by executors when any cost shall be bestowed by the parishioners on the bells, otherwise the money to be distributed among the poor people of the same town. 6s. 8d. to be distributed among the poorest householders of the town. To every godchild 4d. To the poor people of Holcote 20d. and to the poor people of Salford 20d.. "To the povertie of Wawendon 6s. 8d.". To kinsman Henry Mathewe 40s.; to kinsmen William Theyre and Walter his brother 20s. each. To William Willymot and to Eme his sister,6s. 8d. each. To Elzabeth Clapton and to Maryon her sister and to John Bacar daughter of Michall Bacar 5s. each. To Nele Swane goods to the value of 20s. when he shall marry. His executors are to spend "abowte the Fowle slack at Hend Pytle" 3s. 4d.. To wife Alys all copyhold lands and tenements for the term of her life, after the custom of the lordship, and these on her death will go to Thomas Whyte the elder and to his heirs and assigns, after the custom of the manor, except one pightle called Hens Petle which his wife is to have for her lifetime, and if Thomas Berne pay to testator's executors as much money as testator paid for the pightle, then after wife's death the pightle to remain to Thomas Berne and his heirs and assigns after the custom of the manor. If Thomas Berne does not wish to pay the money, then the pightle is to be offered to Richard Robyngs gentleman for the same amount abating 6s. 8d., when the land to go him and his heirs. Wife Alys to have five marks of the money which the said Thomas Whyte shall pay for the remainder of the lands, and another five marks are to be used for the necessary charges of the parish, as to help to repair the churchyard walls, mending the highways, and relief of poverty. Wife to have four marks of the money to be paid for the remainder of the pightle and another 40s. of this money to be distributed among testator's kinsmen, that is to say to Henry Mathewe 13s. 4d.; to William Theyre and Walter his brother 13s. 4d. each. Residue of money from sale of the pightle to be used to help the poorest sort of people of Cranefild who are charged to pay any due to the King's majesty or any other common charge Executors his wife Alys and Richard Willymot, to whom 20s.. Supervisor Thomas Whyte, and he to be excused payment of residue of money. Residue to wife, to use in deeds of charity.
