  • Scope and Content
    Burial in parish churchyard of Shitlington. To wife Elesabeth all household stuff, and her dwelling in testator's house with his son Richard for her lifetime. Also 2 beasts and "the going" (their keep). Also 2 hogs and their keep, also 2 "haynes" (hens) and their keep. Also 8 acres of grain every year as long as she lives, of which 2 acres are to be of wheat, and 4 acres barley, and 2 acres pease. Her land is to be ploughed with their land and also mucked as they do their own before they sow it, and they are to mow it and bring it home and lay it in the "barne ther to the wheyt barn" and no other, without her leave. She is to find the seed, and she is also to have the "the preemynanc to cum to the Fyer at hir will". To son Thomas £6.. To son Edward £4.. To son William his "Copye of Hovewvyll Beyry" and £7 in money. To son Robert the house that was sometime John Lawrens and £6. To son Richard the house where testator lives, charged with the keep of his mother. Testator acknowledges that he owes his brother Gyles £18, which is to be paid at his request. When his body is buried and all debts paid, the residue (corn, cattle, beasts, hogs, hens, capons, ducks, geese, horse and cart gear, and plough and gear) is to be divided between Richard and Robert his sons, and they are to be his executors, with his brother Gylys supervisor.
