    "I will and bequeth my soull into thandes of my moste mercyfull savyer and Redemer Jesus Criste the leveing God and my dede corps to be commendyt to the erth". To his wife Jone his copyhold house with all appurtenances, according to the custom of the manor, and also 40s. to repair the houseand to bring up his children. Wife to have 7 of the best kine, and a couple of the best steers. To the poor men's box 5 pence. To daughter Jone 40s. on the day of her marriage, but if she dies before she is married, then the money to be divided among his children, his eldest son excepted. To each of his 2 younger sons and his 3 younger daughters five sheep with a bullock. To his sons George and Thomas and his daughter Mary a silver spoon each. To his three youngest daughters on the day of their marriage ten shillings each, and they are to be each other's heirs. To each of his youngest sons 20s. each on the day of their marriage. Wife Jone to be executrix, and William Cooke of Mylton Bryan overseer, he to have 6s. 8d.. Residue to wife to do as she shall best to the glory of God. Witnesses sir John Grace curate there, William Style, William Hedland, William Cooke.
