  • Scope and Content
    Soul to Almighty God, to our lady St. Mary and to the holy company of heaven, and body to be buried in the churchyard of All Saints in Houghton. To the high altar for tithes forgot a bushel of wheat. To the mother church of Lincoln 2d.. 5s. is to be distributed to the poor people of the parish where there is most need. To son Henry 2 oxen and 20 nobles in money to be paid by Michaelmas come a twelvemonth. To daughters Alys and Elzabeth five marks sterling each, to be paid by Michaelmas come a twelvemonth. The bequests to his children to be given to testator's father Nicholas Fyld for the children's use. To daughter Alys a red cow and to daughter Elzabeth a black cow and to each of them "vj coples [presumably of sheep] of the beste there Frendes can chose". Share of any child dying to go to the survivors. Should wife decide to remarry before Michaelmas twelvemonth, then legacies to the children to be paid before the marriage. To every godchild a lamb. To testator's brother Roger two couples. To brother Henry two couples. To every one of his brothers and sisters besides one couple. To father Nicholas Fyld "by cause he shuld be good to my childerne And to be Supervysor" 10s. and 4 couples. To testator's mother one couple. Residue to wife Jone, executrix, and Thomas Sutton otherwise called Cowper to be the other executor, who is to have 10s.. Witnesses sir John Cowper curate, Richard Webbe, William Dyne/Dyve.
