    Sould to Almighty God, his blessed mother St. Mary and the company of heaven. Burial in the church of Sanct Denys in Colmorth before the Trinity. A halfpenny white bread to be given to all who attend his burial. To 30 of the poorest households in Eton Soken 10s. to be paid them within 40 days after his death, and likewise to 10 of the poorest householders in Colmorth 40d, and to 10 of the poorest householders in Litle Stowghton 40d., and to 10 of the poorest householders in Wylden 40d.. His close at Collesden called Collesden Close with 3 acres being of the clear value of 8s. to his wife and his three sons and to their heirs for ever, charging them on their conscience "as they will answere before god" to keep a yearly obit and "celebrat for my soull and all my frendes soulles " in the aforesaid church on the day of testator's death "yf the lawe of thys Realme will suffer any suche to contenue" spending each year 8s., requiring the parson or curate of the same church to see it done yearly, but if the law does not allow this to continue, then testator bequeaths the same close and land to his son Richard and his heirs for ever. To son Richard and his heirs for ever 3 of testator's houses at Litell Stowghton wherein now dwell [blank] and the remainder of the lease of the farm in Nethersted in Colmorth also the lease of [?]Langenh' Wod and Burnowe Wod in Eton Sowken and Colmorth. To wife Alys the tenement or house John Chapman now lives for her lifetime, and on her death property to go to son Richard and his heirs for ever. To son Robert and his heirs the farm, messuage or tenement with the appurtenances in Bolnehurste that testator bought of Master Charnocke and sometime called John Richardes of Bolnehurst. To Robert also the tenement in Wilden called [blank] lying in the Este Ende where one John Crane now lives, asking him, on his conscience, to pay to Richard Cahynow and Robert Cahyn 6s. 8d, each of the first rent that he shall receive. Also Robert and his heirs for ever, being the owners of this property in Bolnehurst shall yearly pay at the feast of Easter to 11 of the poorest householders in Bolnehurste 4d. each, and at the same feast pay to the parson or curate there each year for ever 4d.to pray for souls of testator, his wives, his father and mother, and all his friends in the bederoll as he does for others. To son Geffray and his heirs for ever 4 tenements with their appurtenances in Colmorth where live Richard Eyre, John Dycons, John Sutton and William Husband, and all the lands called Beares Land and a messuage and cottage in Wilden and all the lands called Peytons and Bures and Benettes wherein Thomas Querrell and one Flackett now live, charging Geffray to pay to testator's servant Water Pestell 20s. of the first rent that he shall receive, and pay to Denys Chanon 6s. 8d. of the next half year's rent. To Geffray also the lease of the farm of the lordship of Colmorth, which testator's wife and her assigns shall occupy until Jeffray comes to the age of 21 "to Fynde hem to scoll" and Jeffray to take possession at the age of 21. However, until then wife Alys to have for her lifetime the Old Parlure, the grazing of two kine in the pastures and fields belonging to the Lordship, the keep of two bacon hogs or swine winter and summer, and as much firewood as she shall need, and she is also to have all the rent of the 4 houses and all the property willed to Jeffray while she remains single, and if she remarry, then Jeffray to have it, and if she remarry before Jeffray is 21, then son Richard to have the governance and receive the rents of Geffray to keep him at school. His executors are to find a sufficient priest for 3 years for testator's soul in the parish church of Colmorth giving for his yearly wage £6. To every godchild 4d. To daughter Agnes and heirs his house in Litell Stowghton where Henry Smyth now lives. To daughter Jaynysing and her heirs his house there where lives [blank] which lies next towards Busshemed. John Sharpowe and Agnes his wife are to receive to their own use the profits of all the lands in Bolnehurst until son Robert comes to the age of 21 years. After the sum of £18 to find a priest, that then the residue of the moveable goods be divided into 2 parts by William Fynche and Richard Blyth, and one part is to go to his wife, and the other part to be divided among all his children. Should any son want to sell any part of their portion of land, then he would like another brother to be the preferred purchaser at a lower price. Executors wife Alys, sons Robert and Jeffray, with eldest son Richard supervisor. Witnesses sir John Baker, Robert Smyth gent., Thomas Judd, John Fellow and John Cokes.
