Abstract of Title of Rev.Edmund Williamson and Christian, his only child (by his first wife Catherine Taylor) of their title to Red Lion Inn, Woburn (I) R6/63/1/8 (II) R6/63/1/11 (III) R6/63/1/14 (IV) R6/63/1/18-19 (V) R6/63/1/20 (VI) R6/63/1/21-22 (VII) R6/63/1/23 (VIII) Will of Catherine Gregory of 4 Nov 1751 in which, after giving small pecuniary legacies, she gave the residue of her personal estate to her niece Catherine Williamson, making Edmund Williamson sole executor (IX) death of Catherine Gregory in Feb 1752 (X) Proof of will of Catherine Gregory in PCC on 12 Mar 1752, thereby vesting residue of term of 500 years in R6/63/1/22 in himself, Catherine Gregory having made no use of it and the principal of £300 still being outstanding Q. "What estate Mr.Edmd.Williamson & his Daur Christian, , take In the Red Lyon Inn at Woburn agreed to be sold To the Executors of his Late Grace of Bedford And Can they by Indres of Lease & Release & Fine only or how otherwise well Convey these premes to the intended Purchasers? And will it not as Mr.Williamson will not part with the before mentioned Deeds of Settlements of the 9th June 1713 & the 29th May 1742 as they Relate to Estates of much greater value than the Red Lyon Inn be proper to take a Deed of Covenant to Produce such Settlements? A. The limitation in the Settlement was very improper; for tho' in a will the word "issue" operates sometimes as a word of purchase, and sometimes as a word of limitation, yet I think it is not fit to be us'd in a Deed. It should be known whether Diana Taylor is dead, or not. If she is, and Mr.Williamson & his Daughter do by Indres of Lease & Release, and by Fine sur Conizance de droit come ceo &c convey the Title will be very clear. The Fine will destroy his power of appointing, besides he may release the same to the Grantees. Mat.Duane, Linsolns Inn, March the 16th 1774".
