Between 1) William Elsom, Oliver Elsom and 2) Mattthias Essex - cottage or tenement with appurtenances and 1 acre close of pasture ground adjoining in Church End, Thurleigh then and now divided into two tenements in several occupations of William Elsom, Thomas Watford and their under tenants. - new erected messuage built by William Elsom on part of the close then and now in the occupation of John French. - 2.5 acre close of pasture commonly known as Mattocks Field Close purchased of Ambrose Mattocks in the occupation of William Elsom N- Common Field S - ground of Sir Oliver Butler for 500 years at peppercorn rent in consideration of £30 - Indenture of 22 Dec 1749 between 1) William Elsom and 2) Matthias Essex extended mortgage on the cottage for further sum of £20 and interest - Matthias Essex now contracted and agreed to absolute purchase of Mattocks close and 3 acres to be mortgaged, five acres of arable land in mortgage to Richard Williamson and 2.5 acres of arable land. Agreed between parties that the close and 5.5 acres be assigned to attend the freehold and inheritance of the premises. Signed and sealed by Matthias Essex, William Elsom and Lawrence Gell.
