Title
Letter from Arthur Martin of Kempston concerning his memories of the Starlight Club:
- It was sometime in the 1960's that I joined with the helpers of the Starlight Club, then meeting at a chapel at Mill Street which is now the Mansion Nightclub, after a while we moved to Bunyan Meeting Chapel followed by a move to Priory Methodist Church in Newnham Avenue and finally using the premises at Haylands Way Centre
- For a while I was club leader then club treasurer which I held until I retired
- Some of the helpers I do remember were Mrs. Parris, Mrs. Lindley, Mrs. Lindley, Mrs. Anthony, Jim Nickson, Jim Bunyan, Gordon Shorton and finally Richard Stearns and his wife Helen
- It was through the Starlight Club that I used to visit Brookside in the days of Eric Williams. This gave me much pleasure and I had some very happy times at the club and was sorry to hear that it had to close because Richard could not manage without more help
- I apologise for the typing errors. It's a very old typewriter but not quite as old as it's owner.
Also includes a separate sheet of paper with information on the club written down including: - Who started the club - Who chose the name - Names of helpers - Examples of activities and outings.
