    Letter from Geoffrey B.Foster of Clontarf, New South Wales [Australia] to Andrew underwood; annotated by AU "What does he want me to do?": - writer was son of Norman Foster and had been born at The Avenue, Ampthill in 1920; the writer emigrated to Australia in 1949 and his son Ian had suggested that he write his memoirs [see AU10/93/5]; - his daughter Heather and her eighteen year old daughter visited England in June and took photographs of Ampthill and Bedford from Betty Chambers of Bedfordshire magazine and Sylvia Woods of Bedfordshire Records Office; - he had a copy of AU's book "Ampthill A Goodly Heritage", Sylvia Woods was sending a copy of AU's new book and "Home Rule for Ampthill"; - he encloses a £10 cheque and asks for more information and asks if AU is related to Ran Underwood whom the writer remembered in 1928 when Ampthill took delivery of its new Dennis fire engine as Ran Underwood and Norman Foster were both in the brigade
