Letter from F.J. Coleman of the George Hotel to F.T. Tanqueray (written on Coleman's business headed paper)... 'Insured in the Guardian Office, hotel and premises £4150 to Xmas 1895. £5/18/9. I will hold the policy in trust until completion. The plan enclosed I think will explain about the walls. You will also note on the plan the remarks about the w.c. marked x for which I am willing to pay a quit rent say £-/1/- per year. Otherwise the purchaser can brick it up - the entrance being through the wall - between the Tap and the cottages. I pay a small quit rent up on the hotel and will send the amount… I am not particularly impressed with the purchasers qualifications to conduct the business. He has had no previous experience or but very little'.
