    Letter from F.G.Brightman in Luton to Andrew Underwood: - he had seen that AU had been commissioned to write the history of Ampthill Urban District Council; he provided the UDC with horse, cart and man for fire fighting before World War One and was also a member of Ampthill Fire Brigade for fifteen years up to 1924; - he lived in Ampthill for 24 years and married there, he was universally known as Frank; he remembered Superintendent Underwood [AU's grandfather] and Sergeant Stock; - for some years he sang in Ampthill Wesleyan church choir under Miss F.Goodacre then [Alston] Yorke whom he remembered as a splendid musician and teacher; - he was 82 in the previous October
