  • Scope and Content
"I was very pleased to receive your letter today with the full report regarding my Sister, I thought perhaps you would write in due course. It is exceedingly kind and thoughtful on your part to be doing so much, which I know my Sister is extremely grateful. It seems to be somewhat of an anxious time for you all. It is particularly worrying to us for this illness to have developed on the top of my lot. Do please let me know if I can settle for any out of pocket expenses. Perhaps if any more serious symptoms might develop I know you would give me a ring of a few lines, if you should ring please reverse the charge. As you say it is a good thing the days are still long, for it would be most awkward if the dark & longer nights were with us. Lets hope my Sister may recover sooner than we think. Although her age does not in any way help. Regarding the idea for us to come to Ampthill, I am still in poor shape as to my walking. I can so far only walk short distances, with the assistance of a stick, and the pain is bad in the muscles of the crotch and I try very much to walk, which if I can manage, is beneficial, and for me to get in & out of the car is about the worst of all. Perhaps in a few weeks the tide will turn in my favour when I hope to be able to get about better, and not look back. It is only 14 weeks on Wednesday since my operation & I must rest content for some 6 months my Doctor says. But in any case it looks like being a fairly long job. Do please let me know how my Sister is getting along. I am writing a few lines as I feel sure she must be lonely and in such a big house. If she was to get much worse the Doctor might consider letting her go into Hospital for a while where she would receive all time attention, but I would not like to suggest to my Sister this course, as I feel it might upset her very much. Again many thanks for writing and all good wishes in which my Wife joins.
