    Extensive biographical history by Mary Evershed of Chichester [Sussex] including the following: - born 18 Jan 1836 at Great Daux farmhouse, Billingshurst [Sussex], fourth son of Dr.Peter and Harriet; - attended a private school in Lancing [Sussex] and went to London in 1852 studying art at the studio if Alfred Clint, a maritime artist and at James Leigh's School of Painting in Newan Street, off Oxford Street; he regularly exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1857 to 1912; - entered Guy's Hospital in 1859 as a medical student, qualified in 1863 and went to Ampthill as a junior partner, living at The Limes; - married Mary Field, eldest daughter of Henry, Assay Master at the Royal Mint, and Anne on 24 Apr 1864 at Chapel Royal, Tower of London; four sons and two daughters born at Ampthill including the writer's father, Trevor; his partner subsequently absconded with the funds of the practice leaving him with nothing, even after legal action - moved to Hampstead Hill Gardens, Hampstead in 1873; - friendly with Sir Francis Seymour Haden, founder of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers & Engravers and through his influence exhibited etchings in Paris where collecting them became fashionable in the 1920s; - became Senior Physician to Mount Vernon Hospital, Physician to the Artist's Trust, Consulting Medical Adviser to North London Railway and Consulting Physician to Hospital for Consumptives, later Brompton Hospital; - later lived at Mansfield Villas then Rosslyn Hill, Hampstead; - of his children: eldest son Reginald became a doctor and Harley Street eye surgeon, Annete was artistic "but gave it up on marriage", Claude was a member of the Stock Exchange, Constance did not marry, Trevor became a parson and Noel went to Texas "hoping to make a fortune" but farmed cotton, Nellie married an artist; - retired in Aug 1896 and moved to Fishbourne [Sussex] to a house called Eversfield [now Roman Landing]; - spent seven months in Italy in 1897 at Rome, Florence and Venice and made frequent return visits; - Trevor a parson in Australia and New Zealand, then at South Bersted [Sussex]; - his wife was said to be a descendent of Oliver Cromwell; - died of pneumonia on 17 Nov 1919 and was buried at Fishbourne
