  • Title
From Revd R.P.Stacy Waddy (Rector of Ampthill 1947-1952 by then in retirement at Maiden Newton, Dorchester) with extract from parish mag: 'In his 93rd year he still came to Church every Sunday and several times a day he plodded up hill to the Post Office . . . 'He notes 'For the last two years or more I had taken the Blessed Sacrament to Ampthill House on Thursday mornings; Sir Anthony was a truly devout churchman, never a conformist. Afterwards we would discuss the Times leaders. As he grew more blind I used to read them to him. He was astonishingly free from prejudices so we could discuss anything without distress . . . He talked not at all about his past life; he lived in the present and I think he had come through difficult days to a great tolerance and kindness.. .'
