If we can prove in fact this was not the case we ought to be able to establish a claim'. - Reply to above from Dr. C. Bower issuing a word of warning about the profits since a number of factors must be taken into account… 'Outside painting alone after the war cost around £1,500'. - Copy letters from Dr. C. Bower concerning licensed houses that have gone out of business in the last few years… 'As I am only taking chronic and senile patients at Springfield House, I have been wondering whether it would be wise for me to give up the licence and become a nursing home'. - Dr. C. Bower expressing reluctance to pay license for lands that can't be sold or developed under the County Plan. - P.J.W Perks, surveyor negotiating another valuation of the house and fixtures and a copy of a letter sent to the district valuer listing the number of bedrooms (57, mostly single), bathrooms (6) and sitting rooms (13) at Springfield House.
