- TitleLetter from Charles H.Matthews to Sir Albert Richardson: "Thank you very much indeed for your letter and for your kindness in sending me the sketch of the Old Forge. I am delighted with this and will have it framed as a memento of a very enjoyable day. I would like you to see that pencil drawing of Ampthill House of which I wrote in my last letter. I would like your opinion of it. To me - a non-expert - it looks very good indeed. Perhaps I may bring it with me one day when the warmer and sunnier weather comes as I would very much like to see the garden at Avenue House and the Temple. I would, too, like to take some photographs of the House which I did not do on the occasion of my last visit. I hope I am not being too much of a bother to you. To my Wife and myself, Avenue House is perfect and I would like to record it and some of the rooms with my Camera. We have never stopped talking about the lovely and unusual things we saw there. Perhaps I may write to you in a month or so, if you will permit me, and will allow me to take some photographs which would not, I assure you, Sir, be published. Did you ever visit the Crystal Palace. I think it was a really wonderful building and as I lived within almost a stone's throw I used to visit it very frequently. I have a lot of books about it, photographs, Musical Programmes, etc. and even two pieces of its structure. Once again, Sir, thank you very much for the kindness in sending the sketch. I am very grateful. P.S. I enclose the photograph I took at Avenue House. I am very pleased with it".
