Correspondence concerning the possibility of T. Baldwin occupying ground behind a cottage at Brook Lane for his caravan; including: - Letter from Timothy R. Baldwin of RAF Henlow asking for the proposal to be considered… ' I understand that this is not a licensed site and I may have to move within 28 days and also understand that the land is required for building and therefore agree to move on 7 days notice'. - Reply to above from R. Burman, vicar and trustee agreeing that T. Baldwin can occupy the ground and cottage formerly occupied by Mrs Willingham for £0/12/6 per week rent… 'Once you are on the site we will apply to Ampthill R.D.C. for permission for you to remain till such time as builders may wish to commence work on the site or of course you decide to move'. - Application to Ampthill R.D.C. to use the land as a caravan site under the Town and Country Planning Act 1962 (ARDC/TP/64/13). - Refusal (683) by Ampthill R.D.C with the following reason… 'it is the policy of the Local Planning Authority not to permit any new residential caravan sites or extensions to caravan sites in rural areas such as that in which the proposal is situated, unless they are actually required for the re-location or thinning out of unsatisfactory sites already existing.' - Response to refusal stating that is wasn't the intention to use the grounds as a caravan site but for the purpose of caring for the land since the occupier would have been employed in farming operations to take care of the land… 'This is a specific case here. The person employed is son of a farmer, grandson of a farmer bought up to all farming operations'.
