    Correspondence regarding proposal to demolish two old cottages at Brook Lane on a three rood site opposite the church held under the Town lands Charity and develop the site as Housing Association properties for the elderly including: - proposal to make two or four old people's dwellings once the two thatched cottages, scheduled for demolition by Ampthill Rural District Council, had been pulled down; - two cottages tenanted by Mrs.Willingham (died and buried on 27 Nov 1962) and Mr.Dyke aged 67 and his wife and son; - preliminary approval of Diocese fo such a scheme; - opinion of the church's architect, J.E.Chipperfield that 8-10 houses could be erected on the land; - correspondence with National Federation of Housing Societies on how to form a Housing Association; - lack of trust deeds for Town Lands Charity and information that the land (on which three cottages originally stood to house poor people of the parish), together with four acres used for allotments were given to the parish around 1810; - Ampthill RDC refusal for planning permission fort ten old people's dwellings (ARDC/TP/63/69) on grounds: proposed development would be contrary to policy of centralising new housing; proposed development would be a prominent intrusion into an area of pleasant open countryside; - decision to appeal planning refusal; - Minister's decision to uphold the refusal at appeal
