    [f. 229d] John Franckeling of Wotton made 10 Mar. pr. 2 May 1547. Made "the Furst yere of the Reigne of King Edwarde the vj." Burial in the churchyard of Wotton. To the high altar for tithes forgotten 16d.; To wife Margery Franckeling all moveable goods both indoors and out of doors, except anything mentioned below. To elder son William his best cow. To John his middle son the next best cow. To John the younger son another cow. To daughter Elzabeth another cow. To youngest daughter another cow. Should any die then their legacy to go to the survivors. Should all die then his executors to use legacies for testator's soul. Wife Margery to have the keeping of the children's legacies until they marry, while she remains single. Should she remarry, then each child to have their portions. To eldest son William Franckeling a close in Marston called Horne Close. Wife Margery to have the house where testator dwells paying the rent on the appointed days on St. Lawrence's day next. She is to have the house for life, then it is to go to son William, if he is able to buy it and pay his brothers and sisters their parts. If he cannot afford this, then any other child can buy it. Otherwise the house to be sold by his executors, and every child to have an equal share "devydyt by my executors discrestion". 20d. to be given every Good Friday to the poor people for the next 10 years, which son William shall provide. Executors wife Margery and William Burne, with Thomas Adam the Overseer. Witnesses Master vicar and William Harvey.
