    Folio 179 - Richard Samwell of the "inhabitance" of Blownham made 11 June pr. 20 July 1546. Burial within the churchyard of Blownham. To the high altar for tithes forgotten 2s.; to the Sepulchre 6s. 8d.; to the bells 6s. 8d.. To John Norfolke the brown cow, 6 sheep, one pair of sheets. To brother William Samwell the 4 horses, "and both my copyes"[copyholdings], half his crop parted by the acre, his cart and cart gear, plough and plough gear, his great red cow and 4 sheep. John Samwell to have the "brandelled" [brindled] bullock for the 10s. Richard Samwell owes him, and 40s. when the house is sold, 2 sheep and half a quarter of barley. To Richard Pestell the younger half a quarter of barley and a pair of sheets and 3 sheep. To Thomas Howghton the red bullock and 4 sheep, one pair of sheets and half a quarter of barley, one sheep [sic] and a pair of sheets. To the bridge 10s. Poor men are to dig as much gravel as comes to 3s. 4d., and the town to carry it where they think is the most need. To the little bridge 3s. 4d.. To Barford bridge 3s. 4d. John Cowper's children to have a quarter of barley between them, and testator's brother William to have testator's best coat and best doublet and best hose, and William's wife [?] Annes to have 4 yards of russet and testator's wife's red cap, and her red sleeves. Katering Warde to have testator's wife's best kirtle. John Norfolke to have 3 platters, one candlestick, a brass pot. Agnes Cowper to have a platter, and a skillet. Agnes to have half a quarter of barley and a kercher. His executors to sell both testator's copyholdings after the death of brother William Samwell. Henry Samwell's children to have half a quarter of barley between them, and Jane Samwell to have a ewe. To Elzabeth Pestell 2 bushel of barley. Brother William Samwell to have the residue of the household stuff in the house. Executors are to bestow the residue of his estate "for my soull and all cristen souls". Brother William Samwell to have the work of testator's oxen until Michaelmas next coming, and then oxen to be sold by executors, and John Cowper shall be able to buy them before anyone else paying 20d. less. Richard Wandns/Wandus sons to have half a quarter of barley and a sheep each. To brother William his old cow and a cow calf. John Norfild to have an ox calf. John Cowper to have five yards of russet. To the church box 10s.. Executors are to sell "my Flese wooll" and give the money to poor people. The remainder of his sheep to be used for his soul and all Christian souls. His peas and beans to be sold and the money given to poor people. Legacies to be delivered before Christmas next. As regards his freehold land, he has sold this to John Cowper and his heirs for 50s. of which 6s. 8d. to be paid each year, to which sale Richard Verdewe and Robert Osburne are witnesses. Executors to be John Cowper and Henry Samwell Witnesses Thomas Bawford, Thomas Taler, Thomas Bamford and Jeffery Osburn. Executors to have 6s. 8d. each and the witnesses 2s. each.
