    Folio 174 - John Steven alias Smyth "by occupation" of Stanford Bery within the parish of Sowthyevell made 2 Apr. pr.10 June 1546. To the high altar there for tithes negligently forgotten 12d.; to the torches 8d.; to the mother church of Lincoln 2d.; towards the mending of the high ways where most need is 3s.; to the poor people in Sowthill parish 2s.. To wife Elzabeth the copy of his house where he dwells, for the term of her life, together with the land at "Regent" [? Ridgmont] after the death of testator's father, and on her death these shall go to testator's son William Stevens, and should son die before he has entered on the properties, then they are to remain to the eldest of testator's surviving daughters. To son William the 2 oxen that are leased to Slowes of Wotton until the Assumption of Our Lady, and also 5 quarters of barley appraised at 4s. the quarter. To dau.
