    Folio 173 - William Hamelden senior of Hardwike, gentleman, made 11 May pr. 3 July 1546. In the reign of "lord Henry the eight by the grace of God king of Yngland Franc and Yrland defender of the Fayth and in erth supreme hede of the churche of Yngland Immedatly under criste". "I bequeth my soull to Allmeghtie God to our Lady Sanct Mary and to All Saintes in heven" and his body to be buried in the chapel of Hardwike within the chancel there. To mother church of Lincoln 4d.. To servant Richard Browne of Stanford Bery for his labour and pains taking in riding and going for testator divers times "[?] carlocke dam' " . To Thomas Browne son of Richard Browne the little tenement and messuage with the appurtenances in Shefford as it is set between the tenement called The Cocke on one side and the tenement late of John Crase on the other side to hold to him and the heirs of his body, and should he die without such heirs, then the tenement is to go to testator's son William Hamelden. To wife Agnes the remaining years in his lease of his "Fermehold of Hardwike", and should she die before the end of the lease, then the reversion to remain to son William Hamelden and his assigns. To wife also the rent of testator's tenement in Shefford called The Cock for her life, reversion to son William Hamelden. To son William and his heirs also the remaining years of testator's part of Stanford Bery Ferme, and all the cattle which testator has at the time of making the will. Residue to wife Agnes and son William to be divided equally between them, and they to be his executors. Witnesses who are to subscribe their names: Edmund Peeke, John Bulmer junior, Umfrey Coppley, Robert Stewghteley junior, John Hill.
