  • Title
    Folio 168d - Thomas Howse of Sewell in Howghton Regis made 28 Mar. pr. 10 May 1546. Burial in church yard of All Saints in Howghton. To high altar there for tithes forgotten 4d.; to mother church of Lincoln 2d.; to the bells 4d.; to the torches 8d.; to the altar of Our Lady 4d.. To every godchild 4d.. To William Howse the son of Henry Howse 4d. and to the wife of William Howse 4d.. There shall be six loads of flint laid in Sewell Street. Half a quarter of malt to be given to poor people by the peck where there is most need. To son Robert and his heirs a tenement in Toternoo with all that pertains to it, but should he die without heirs, then the tenement is to go to testator's son Richard and his heirs. To son Thomas and his heirs a tenement in the North End of Dunstable with four acres of arable land now in the tenure of William Boone, in default of heirs to testator's son Richard. Should son Richard die without issue before he reaches lawful age, then any property he may have to revert to testator's son William, and if William should die without lawful issue then anything he has to pass to testator's son Robert, and in default to testator's son Thomas, and in default to testator's son Richard. To daughter Elzabeth 6 quarter of barley to be paid at the next crop, and on the day of her marriage 20 nobles, a brass pot, a pan, a bed with all that belongs to it and 2 of testator's best bullocks. To testator's wife Malyn/Maling/Malin her chamber complete as it is and also the moveables in the house, except such as are standards in the house, and 2 horses from testator's son William. To son Robert at the age of 20 twenty nobles, and should he die before then the money is to be divided among the testator's other sons. To son Thomas age 20 twenty nobles, and should he die before then the money to be divided among testator's surviving sons. To son Richard a silver spoon and at the age of 20 £10 sterling, and should be die before then the money to be divided between his brothers. Residue to wife and to son William his executors with Thomas Howse the son of Henry Howse overseer, each to have 20d.. Wife to have her dwelling with son William as long as she remains single, and they are to occupy the property jointly.
