    Folio 163d - Nicholas Grome of Hockelyff in the parish of Chalgrave made 14 Mar., pr. 8 Apr. 1546. Burial in church yard of Allhallowes of Chalgrave. To the high altar there for tithes forgotten 12d.; to mother church of Lincoln 2d.; to the reparation of the parish church of Chalgrave and to the bells there 12.; to the torches 4d.; to the Rood light 12d.. To daughter Agnes Grome one black cow, a heifer, a coffer and a bed, that is to say a mattress, 2 pair of sheets, a bolster, a pillow, a coverlet and a tester. To son Richard a shod cart, 5 horses and 2 steers. To son William Grome two weaning calves. Testator's wife Margret Grome to have all the stuff that she brought with her at the day of her marriage both within the house and without, that is to say household stuff and cattle, or else as much of testator's so as to fulfil the same. Wife Margret to have the dwelling in testator's house called The Sterre until son Richard come to the age of 21. Residue to wife, sole executrix, to use for his soul as she thinks fit. Witnesses John Osbornbe vicar of Chalgrave, William Smyth, Richard Stookes, John Stryngar.
