    Folio 148 - Robert Rudd of Barton in the Cleye made 12 Nov. 1545, pr. 18 Jan. 1545/6. Burial in the churchyard of Barton in the Cleye. To the high altar for tithes forgotten 12d.. To each of his three children 2 sheep. He has surrendered his house and land into the hands of his father to hold them to the use of his wife Elzabeth for the term of her life, and after her death to testator's son Bartholomew , and should he die without issue, then to his son Edmund, and if he die without issue, to his daughter Jane, and should she die without issue, then to testator's brother Thomas Rudd as preferential purchaser if he will give 20 marks for it. This money is to be used to pay testator's debts, and the remainder to be divided into three parts, of which one is to pay a priest to sing for testator and his friends, one to be given to poor folk of the town, and the third part to the high ways and Barton Causey. To daughter Jane 2 pair of sheets, a blanket, a coverlet, and a coffer. To Bartholomew his son testator's bow and his shafts. Residue to wife Elzabeth, and she to be executrix. Witnesses sir Richard Landes/Laudes, John Smyth and others.
