  • Title
    Folio 99d - Hugh Mekeley of Stodham, husbandman, made 1545, pr. 14 Oct. 1545. Burial in church yard of Our Blessed Lady of Stodham. To the high altar there for tithes forgotten 12d.; to the Roode light 12d.; to the bells 12d.. To eldest son John Mekeley the remainder of the lease of his land which testator holds of Master George Candyssh and Master John Smyth, except for five acres being a croft called Whete Crofte containing 2 acres, and another three acres lying in Hyedon Fild next to the lands of William Pratt on the south part, and abutting on the land of Master Benfild on the north side, which five acres are to go to his second son Richard Mekeley for the remainder of the lease. Also to said Richard and his heirs one acre of land lying in Hympe fyld which testator lately bought of William Billington. Richard is to pay to testator's third son William Mekeley 20s. for the acre of land. To eldest son John the "whele" plough and residue to wife Jone, "whome I orden my executors". Witnesses John Miller, John Myller, Edward Bodon, John Mekeley, Benet Smyth.
