    Folio 10 - Thomas Nele made 3 Apr. pr. 26 Apr.1544. Burial in Our Lady Chapell in Yelden, giving to the church 3s. 4d.; to the high altar for tithes forgotten 3s.; to mother church of Lincoln 6d.; to the bells of Yelden 6d. His mother is to have all his land in Newnton Bromsholde and in Nether Dene for her lifetime and after her death his wife to have them for her lifetime, and after her death, they are to remain to testator's eldest son and his heirs, and for lack of issue then they are to go to his next brother. Testator's brother Richard Nele and his heirs to have one half of the pastures called the Bery Filde during the remaining years specified in a lease in a pair of indentures; and testator's wife to have the other half, (while she remains single) for the maintenance of herself and her children. Wife to have also all the farms in the parish of Yelden while she remains single, and if she remarry the farms to go to testator's eldest son, and should he die, then to his brother. His eldest son to have £40 raised from testator's goods and chattles, and each of his other children £20 each. £20 also to the child his wife is carrying, if it live. The share of any child dying to be divided between the survivors. Should wife remarry, then children's portions to be delivered to them before her marriage. Servant John Leche to have 20s.. Other servants "after there yeares serves" to have a quarter's wages. Residue to wife Gooddeth, executrix, and eldest son executor, and testator's brother William Leey esq. to be supervisor, but in his absence position to be filled by testator's brother Richard.
