Sondon. Ezabel Howell confessed that Thomas Gaywod had made her pregnant. They were both ordered to do public penance and go before the processional cross for three Sundays in the garb of penitents, and Richard Typlady, apparitor, stated this had been done. Thomas did not wish to marry the said Ezabell because he said she was too poor and lacking in wit [insapiens]. He did however give her 20s. and would provide for the child, when it was born.
