- Title[f. 21] (see also ABP/R 6 f. 32) Hugh Bodington of Dunstable, made 18 July 1540, proved 2nd August 1540. Burial in the church yard at Dunstable; to the mother church of Lincoln 2d.; to the high altar of Dunstable 4d.; to the torch light there serving the altar 12d.; towards the mending of the bells there 10s.. To his mother 40s., and to his brother Steven Bodington 20s.; to his brother Lewes 20s. To daughter Anne towards the preferment of her marriage £20 of good and lawful money, to be paid £10 on her marriage day, and the other £10 that day twelve months. Should Anne die, then the unpaid money to be used for souls of testator and all Christians. To his wife Joan the remainder of the lease of the house where he now dwells (keeping it in proper repair) and should she die before the end of the lease, then to daughter Anne or to her children. Executrix wife Joan, Overseers Adam Hylton and Robert Amerycke, each to have 5s.. Witnesses sir Thomas Massey curate, Adam Hylton, Robert Amerycke, Antony Stubbenges.
