- TitleAbstract of Mortgage (I) Mortgage of 1876/7 Parties: (i) Elizabeth Cobb of Congleton [Cheshire], spinster; (ii) Edward Percival of Bradwall near Sandbach [Cheshire], esquire Operative Part: - (i) mortgaged (a)-(b) to (ii) for £1,500 Property: (a) messuage in Woburn in occupation of Richard Boughton, saddler; (b) close of land in Woburn of one acre with 33 cottages etc. built thereon in occupation of William Mapley, Joseph Knott, Charles Walton, John Green, James Coburn etc. and public house in occupation of William Mapley called White Bear which had been erected by George Rogers with messuage adjoining formerly in occupation of Thomas Nottingham upon a building lease granted him by William Cobb at yearly rent of £15; White Bear then leased to Henry Fowler of Woburn, brewer for 21 years at yearly rent of £45 (II) Declaration by Henry Latham of Congleton,solicitor attesting: - witness to execution by Elizabeth Cobb, late of Congleton, deceased to (I) above; - that Elizabeth Cobb died on 5 Dec 1877 leaving a will devising her property in Woburn to her nephew Montague William Cobb and Henry Latham as trustees; - that Edward Percival paid £1,000 of the £1,500 mortgage on 16 May 1876 and £500 on 16 Jan 1877; - that Elizabeth Cobb signed (I) about 20 Jan 1877 in his presence and that interest payable was 5% and that it was inadvertence on Latham's part that the date and rate of interest were omitted from the mortgage deed
