"I am very sorry indeed to be obliged to trouble you again but some time ago Mr.Cooke Borrowed some money off Mr.W.Brantom and his Brother William Cooke signed his name to it and as he is not able to keep the Interest paid he demand the Principle, and we have not got it, for as you know every thing we had was sold at the sale and the few thing [sic] we have now was bought in again by order of Mr.Bassett[?]or a gift to me and the Children only so I thought it would be right for me to let you know that he intends taking Legal Proceedings against Mr.W.Cooke and as it would be useless to trouble him further (for he as [sic] had two letter [sic] from him already) we have refered [sic] him to you for you to do as you think best we are very sorry indeed about it and if Mr.Cooke can have had a little help we would have tried and paid the Interest and then we need not have troubled you"
