Letter from Bassett, Son & Harris of Leighton Buzzard to John Thomas Green: "We have made further search, following the clue furnished in your letter. The Cheque £57-10/- for div of 8/- was. on the date you name, 9 Nov 1830, placed to the credit of the drapery business a/c of J.D.Bassett & Co so we presume that these transactions belonged to that business and not to the Bank. These books have been destroyed. We fear therefore that we shall find nothing further that will help you. The particulars of the Deposit a/c which we looked at yesterday (John Green & King - Exors Paxton) are as follows - Fo 196 1823 12 June Cash 3/20 1/10 1/5 75 30 do Int 2.2 31 Dec so 1.2.6 1824 22 June do 15.4 £77 - - We return the 2 old papers"
