'In consideration of your having allowed us to overdraw our account to the amount of £2000 and upwards we hereby deposit in your hands the deeds relating to: The Crown Public House, Woburn; The Green Man, Chalk Hill, Houghton Regis; The Globe, Union Street, Luton; The piece of ground in Chapel Street, Luton with the messuage thereon erected and intended for an inn for the better securing thereof and as a general cover upon our account; and we hereby undertake whenever called upon to execute an assignment of the said property by way of mortgage with power of sale to such person or persons as you shall direct or execute any other document at our own cost which you may decree requisite for the better securing the said amount or any sum of money which may at any time be owing by us to you for the principal interest and costs'.
