To HRJS from Alice (sister) - re financial advise regarding her forthcoming marriage to her cousin Tom. 'With regard to a settlement I know you have advised me for my good...Tom went home, & in conversation with his father, mentioned that it was my friends' wish he was very surprised & would not belive you had ever advised it - adding that he thought if I wanted to live happily, I should not have such a thing...I dont like writing on such matters but please destroy this at once. I fear even now there will have to be another put off for tho' uncle is mending, he is still very bad and feeble'
