To HRJ from Harriet Exton Swaffield (sister) '...concerning the Sale I saw in the Papers of the Harlington Estate I do not feel at all satisfied about my Money having no security but that bit of Paper from J. G.[reen]. Alice has not even that and I have arrived at the conclusion that we are two simpletons to have rested so long without making enquiry into such an important concern - Will you kindly see about it for us. If the money is still in that mortgage I think the sooner he can get hold of it again the better, don't you. at all events I dont like it as it is now, and I am sorry to trouble you about it, but as you are often seeing Mr Green I shall be very much obliged if you will ascertain the state of affairs and give me your advice as soon as you can. It would be no use to try and get back the money when it was gone and on reading the Newspaper I think things did not look very promising, therefore both Alice and I naturally wish to be on the safe side. I have purposely sent this for you to receive on Sunday morning thinking you would have more time to consider over it'
