  • Title
Letter from Charles H.Tanqueray at 5 Pall Mall East, London to his uncle, John Green: "On reference to my father's private Ledger date 1 Jany, 1841. I find a sum of £602/0/6 standing to the credit of Elizabeth Tanqueray & brought from General Ledger this book must have been what was used in the day of Mark Lane which of course I have not got. Between 1 Jany 41 & Decr 45 the above sum appears to have accumulated by unpaid interest to a £1000 as I see that amount stands to Aunt's credit on the 1 Jany 1846. On the 1 Jany 1850 a sum of £2000 was received from The Revd.Edwd Tanqueray & placed to the credit of Aunt under her maiden name. Interest on the above £3000 appears to have been paid to Uncle John up to 30 June 1864. On the 30 July 1864 a further sum of £2000 was received [unreadable word] from Uncle John & added to the £3000 making in all £5000 standing to the credit of Mrs.King & upon which sum I have each quarter since paid interest direct to Aunt. Please tell Aunt I have her note"
