Letter to Fanny from Elizabeth King at Oxton [Cheshire]: "I send you a letter received from Aveling this morning. What capital can he have lost in the Brewery? How could he have any money after the mess? Is it not imaginary? The whole thing puzzles me. Of this I am certain, I became answerable to George for £500 for Aveling who now wants the money and I suppose George will have to advance it, that money must come from mine in George's hands and that money is settled on Katie by my Settlement. I want John to tell me how that can be done so as to leave George clear of trouble on my account, of course as long as I live we shall be satisfied with that £500 Interest less income, but how may it be at my death? It is not to be paid till 1st Jany 1876 so plenty of time. Thanks for your letter Lizzie is very well, she has Mrs.Cunningham with her now, and she takes Edith & Mary away with her to Scotland. Lizzie expects to keep up another fortnight and I am afraid I shall be away as we go to Mrs.Bourne's next Monday
