Letter from Aveling Tanqueray at Llangollen Brewery to Elizabeth King "My object in writing to you is to inform you that my friend Mr.Jenkins has given me notice that he requires the £3000 advanced to me nearly 7 years ago to be paid on the 1st Jany 1876 being due & as it is utterly impossible for me to pay it or any portion of it I am compelled with much reluctance to call upon you for £500 as one of my Securities through George. It is very painful to me but there is no alternative as my Capital was lost in the Brewery long ago. I had hoped it might have been recovered but the times have been so bad for Brewers, that the Brewery has been unable to pay off as large debt incurred & owing to our Maltster & Hop Merchant who have been supporting the Brewery ever since I took to the management I am full of misery & disappointed P.S. will you kindly write to Pall Mall at your convenience"
