Letter from W.S.Smith of Ampthill Brewery to John Thomas Green: "Mr.Vine of Henlow has been over here today to inform us he has exercised his right of commons for 4 cows. The Secretary appointed by the Commissioners to look after their rights has given him verbal Notice that unless he removes two of the Cows they will be impounded. I have told Mr.Vine not to remove the Cows unless he hears from you that he is to do so and to tell the Secretary that he has been to us and we have told him the 4 Right have been conveyed to us and we intend to make use of them. Please write to Vine if I am wrong"
