    Folio 175d Richard Hoggisden [? Loggesden] of Challerston in the parish of Roxton made 6 July 1543, proved 12 Oct. 1543. Burial in the church yard of Roxton. To the high altar 4d.; to the church of Lincoln 2d.; to the bells of Roxton 4d.. To his wife Elene Loggesden four milch beasts, two horses and all household stuff, except a brass pot and a brass pan which are to go to testator's eldest son William Longesden. To the aforesaid [blank] half a yardland containing 8 and a half acres ready sown "and halfe a land". To the said William Loggesden half a yard land containing 4 and a half acres and half a land of rye. To him also testator's house at Roxton and Cowners Close after the death of Elene Loggesden. Should wife remarry, before the marriage she is to confirm that this property is to go to William on her death. Elene is to keep up all the houses standing there. Neither she nor any other is to sell any timber or wood growing round the said close, but it is to be preserved to keep the said houses in repair. Elene is to maintain a light before the Blessed Sacrament in the choir during her lifetime. The said William is to maintain a light before the Blessed Rood during his lifetime. The survivor of the two is to maintain both lights. Should William die without issue, then the house and close are to go to "the nexte of the blode", John Logisden now living in London excepted. Whoever holds the property is to maintain the two lights. Should the said William be constrained to sell the house and close, then he is to sell it to his brother William, or to one of his kindred. To William Loggisden senior all plough and cart gear, cart and cart tyres and one horse. He is to help Elene home with all her corn. The same William is to pay his brother John Loggesden 20s. within 2 years, and in one year William the younger is to pay his brother John 20s.. William Loggesden the elder and William Loggesden the younger are to pay the vicar of Roxton 20s. each, which 40s. is to be distributed among poor people on testator's burial day. William Loggesden the elder is to pay half the charges before testator's burial, and half the charges of proving his will. To ten godchildren a bushel of new barley each. To Elene Loggisden who dwells with Master Fythhing a white heifer with a calf. To Stephen Sharpe a bullock. To William Cage a table, testator's best gown and half a quarter of barley. To Thomas Bundy a quarter of barley or else 3s. 4d.. To Elzabeth Cage a white bullock. To sir William Hugh priest 10s. to sing for testator at Michaelmas next. To William the elder two hogs and a bullock. Wife Elene is to be executrix and William Loggisden the younger executor, to whom testator's second best gown, and William the elder to be an executor, to whom a coat and a doublet, he to gather in all debts owing to testator.
