William Bemond, made 31 Dec. 1542, proved 20 June 1543.
"I bequeth my soull to Allmeighty God my maker and Redemer". Burial in the parish church yard of Stodham. To the said church for things most needful 13s. 4d.; to the high altar for tithes forgotten 4d.; to the torches 4d.; to the mother church of Lincoln 2d.; for the stipend of an honest priest to sing as soon as possible for the souls of the testator, his wife, his father and mother and friends for half a year in Stodham church 53s. 4d.; to the bells of the church 4d..
To his children William, Richard and Agnes £6 13s. 4d. each, making a sum total of £20.
To his dau. Agnes 66s. 8d. To his godson John Bemont son of testator's son Thomas 2 sheep.
To every godchild under the age of 15 2d. to pray for the testator.
Residue to sons John and Thomas, his executors, with son William as Supervisor and Overseer.
To his son William the house in which Roger Alderton lives, together with the lease of the land that belongs to Bechewod, otherwise called St. Gylys in the Wode, and also an acre of land at Bury Dell.
To sons John and Thomas the house where testator dwells and the lands appertaining to the same, with all the leases of land occupied with the house, until son Richard comes to the age of 30, and then these are to go to him and his heirs for every, but if he die before the age of 30, then these properties to be divided between all of testator's sons then still living.
To sons John and Thomas the house where Dober lives until son Richard comes to the age of 24, but if Richard die under 24 without a male heir, then testator's godson John Bemont (son of testator's son Thomas) is to have it.
