    Folio 150 Richard Clare of the parish of Our Blessed Lady of Steventon made 17 Oct. 1542, pr. 12 Apr. 1543. Burial in the church yard of Stephenton before the church door. His wife and children are to distribute and give to poor people such as have most need on the day of his burial for his soul and the souls of all faithful in Christ. A trental of masses to be done for his soul, half in Steventon church and half in Pabenham church. To the Sepulchre light of Steventon a bushel of barley; to the bells there 2 bushel of barley; to the high altar 4d. and one altar cloth. To Stafford bridge half a quarter of barley. To the Sepulchre light of Pabenham a pound of wax, and to the bells a bushel of barley. To his son John a quarter of barley and 2 ewe sheep, and to each of John's children a bushel of barley and a lamb. To son William 2 quarters of barley and a cow. To son Robert 4 quarters of barley and 2 kine. To son Thomas 3 quarters of barley, one cow, and a bullock. To son Henry 4 quarters of malt, a cow bullock, 4 sheep, and an acre of best tilled land sown with barley. His dau. Elnor is to have 40s. sterling on the day of her marriage, also a cow, a weaning calf, 2 quarters of malt, a quarter of barley, and half a quarter of wheat. Should any child die, their portion is to be divided between his other sons Robert, Thomas and Henry. The residue to his wife Elzabeth, and should she remarry then she is to deliver to Master George Darell, Master Richard Fyssher and Master John Fyssher 40s. to the use of his sons Robert, Thomas and Henry. His executors are his wife, his brother Thomas Churche, and his sons John and William, Supervisor Master Richard Slade, to whom 6s. 8d.. Witnesses Master Richard Slade, John Churche, and his ghostly father sir Robert Wylkenson.
