Scope and Content
Burial in the church yard of All Hallowes in Chalgrave; to the church of Lincoln 2d.; to the high altar of Chalgrave for tithes forgotten 12d.; to the upkeep of the bells, torches and other lights in Chalgrave church 6s. 8d..
To his eldest son John Hebbys 2 oxen that are at Stookehawmont, 20 sheep (neither the best nor the worst), 6 quarters of barley, and £3 16s. 8d. in money. To each of John Hebbys 3 children a quarter of barley.
To his second son Edmund Hebbys testator's house in Tyllysworth with appurtenances, 4 oxen from those at Tyllysworth and Billington, 6 quarters of barley, 6 sheep and £3 6s. 8d..
To his eldest dau. Jone Hebbes 6 quarters of barley, 6 quarters of malt, 6 sheep, a bed (that is to say a mattress, a pair of blankets, a pair of sheets, a coverlet, a bolster and a pillow), 2 platters, 2 pewter dishes and 40s. in money.
To dau. Margret 2 steers that are at Sondon, 6 quarters of barley, 6 sheep and a bed and pewter as he sister has and 40s. in money.
To third dau. Agnes Hebbes 2 steers, 6 sheep, 6 quarters of barley, a bed and pewter as her sisters have and 26s. 8d. in money.
To fourth dau. Jelyan Hebbes 2 steers that stand in the cart house, 6 quarters of barley, 6 sheep, a bed and pewter as her sisters have, and 26s. 8d. in money.
The money left to Edmund Hebbes and to his daughters is to be given to Thomas Cooke of Todington for the use of the children.
The children are to be each other's heirs if they die before they are married or before they are "of discretion to bestowe there owen goodes".
If all die then his executors are to use the legacies for the souls of the testator, his children and all Christians. To each godchild 8d..
Wife Agnes to have the remaining years of his lease which he had from the Prior and Convent "wiche was then in Dunstable".
To each of the children of Thomas Hebbes of Tyllysworth 4 bushel of barley.
To Robert son of William Hebbes of Tyllysworth the hire of the oxen at Tyllysworth.
The residue to his wife Agnes, executrix, with Henry Hebbys of Tebworth, executor (to have 10s.), and they are to dispose of it for souls.
