- Title[Photocopy] Copy of surrender, Manor of Biggleswade by the hands and acceptance of William Chapman and William Brunt the elder two other customary tenants of the said manor. Parties: (i) Thomas Street of Renhold, Beds, farmer (customary tenant of the said manor) (ii) William Robert of Biggleswade, Beds, grocer and baker. Property: (a) Piece of ground in or near to Shortmead Street, Biggleswade adjoining other premises in the possession of and belonging to the said William Roberts on the East containing 32ft in length and 14ft in breath with the barn or building lately erected which for the past several years has been in the tenure or occupation of Benjamin Walker, blacksmith and is now of the said William Roberts. Together with a right of way for horse, carts and carriages along a path from the public street on the N end of the dwelling house of William Roberts and the dwelling house of Benjamin Walker & William Roberts on the E end. Reciting: In consideration of 20s (i) surrendered (a) to the Lord of the manor to the absolute use of (ii). Signed by William Chapman and William Brunt the elder (his mark). Witness to the said William Brunt signing is Robert Haynes, clerk to Mr. Chapman.
