    Copy brief for plaintiff in the case: Tom Aubrey Chester (Plaintiff) and John H. Hines (Defendant) at the County Court of Bedfordshire holden at Leighton Buzzard. Includes: - Background to the case: 'The Plaintiff is a horse dealer carrying on business at Woburn Sands and the Defendant runs a bus from Aspley Guise to Woburn Sands Station and he is also a mail contractor taking the letters from the station to Aspley Guise and Woburn'. On the 27th Oct 1910 the plaintiff having a bay horse for sale saw the defendant at Woburn Sands station and asked him if he one and it was arranged that the plaintiff should take the horse to the defendant's yard at Aspley Guise on the following day. The plaintiff took the bay horse there and the defendant tried it, driving it several miles, and the plaintiff agreed to let the defendant have the horse in exchange for two old horses and £20 in cash. The plaintiff left the horse with the defendant and took away the two old ones it being arranged that the defendant should pay the amount by instalments as soon as possible'. The plaintiff continued to delay in payment and when the matter was put in the hands of Mr Tanqueray, the defendant stated that he did not owe anything. - Statement by Tom Aubrey Chester (Plaintiff) - Statement by William Lane: 'I am a jobmaster living at Aspley Guise. I know the Bay Horse which the plaintiff sold to the defendant in Oct 1910 as I had hired it of the plaintiff and had driven it at different times. It was a good horse and I should think it was worth around £30'
