    Supplemental abstract of title of David Joshua Appleton to two freehold messuages and premises numbered 41 & 42 Roman Road, Chelmsford, Essex. Abstracting: (Recital I) Conveyance dated 1st Feb 1892 between (1) John Albert Copland (2) Philemon Beckett (3) David Appleton of Chelmsford, carman. Reciting: £350 was still owed by (2) on the security of mortgages abstracted at HN10/368/Roman1. Operative: In consideration of £800 (£350 to 1 & £450 to 2) (1) & (2) conveys (a) to (3). (a) (see attached plan) Freehold ground that is land tax redeemed and tithe free situate in Moulsham, Chelmsford; bounded on SE by Roman Road with the messuages then standing. Habendum: Unto and to the use of (3) in fee simple discharged from all past indentures of mortgage. (Recital II) Memorandum endorsed on (Recital I)… 'The seven messuages erected upon the land conveyed by the within written indenture are nos: 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41 and 42 and are occupied by Doc, Davis, Claydon, Cook, Boultwood, Winterflood & Haselgrove. By indenture dated the 2nd Feb 1892 the within named David Appleton conveyed to Samuel Joseph Chopping of Chelmsford, solicitors clerk the two messuages nos: 36 and 37 occupied by Doc & Davies and by an indenture of the same date the same David Appleton conveyed to Walter Dowsett of Chelmsford, pork butcher the three messuages nos: 38, 39 & 40 occupied by Claydon, Cook and Boultwood. (Recital III) Will of David Appleton dated 15th Oct 1901 appointing son David Joshua Appleton and son-in-law Alfred Smee as executors and trustees and giving no. 42 Roman Road to daughter Clara Henrietta Smell in fee simple and no. 41 Roman Road to son David Joshua Appleton in fee simple. (Recital IV) David Appleton died on the 10th Dec 1901. (Recital V) Probate of the will of David Appleton was granted from the high court of justice on the 27th Dec 1901. (Recital VI) Conveyance dated 15th Feb 1902 between (1) David Joshua Appleton then of 14 George Street, Woburn, Beds, butler; Alfred Smee of 165 Nag Head Road, Ponders End, Middlesex, engineer (2) Clara Henrietta Smee wife of Alfred Smee (3) said D.J. Appleton. Operative: In consideration of £200 paid by (3) to (2), (1) as personal representatives of G. Appleton deceased conveys (a) at the direction of (2) to (3). (A) Freehold premises known as No.42 Roman Road, Moulsham, Chelmsford formerly in the occupation of Haselgrove and late occupied by David Appleton, deceased. Habendum: Unto and to the use of (3) in fee simple.
