Hall (agent for the Duke of Bedford) to Mr. Arthur Norris of Ridgmont relating to an offer from Thomas George Roberts to sell property in Ridgmont [High Street] to the Duke of Bedford for £270... 'I do not think his grace would wish to drive too hard a bargain, and therefore, I write to say that I am willing to purchase for the sum of £270, which, includes the property as it now stands, with all fixtures etc,. with the exception of the wooden shop, which is to be recognised as a tenants fixture, and which you would be entitled to remove at the end of your tenancy'.
